Book on the life of former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla launched in Darjeeling
Darjeeling : Former Foreign Secretary of India, Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, hailing from the region of Darjeeling and Sikkim, was the subject of a biography titled Not An Accidental Rise, launched in Darjeeling on Saturday. The book, authored by Dr Dipmala Roka, recounts Shringla’s life and career trajectory, highlighting his rise to become the Chief Coordinator for India’s G20 Presidency. The launch event was attended by a distinguished gathering, including Shri Prem Bhandari, Chairman of Jaipur Foot USA, who lauded Shringla’s dynamic and efficient tenure as an Ambassador in the United States and elsewhere in the world.
During the event, Shringla emphasized the potential of Darjeeling’s enterprising youth, highlighting their success in cities across the world. He called for the creation of in-house capacities and the provision of skills to create better opportunities for the younger generation in the region. The book, available in English and Nepali, was praised by Dr Roka as a tale of sheer grit and hard work that went into shaping a noteworthy diplomatic career. Not An Accidental Rise is a biography that sheds light on Shringla’s rise to become one of India’s most prominent diplomats.
