Kolkata : Sudhamta Foundation India, in commemoration of World Health Day, successfully organized the West Bengal State Multiple Disability Football Tournament. The tournament witnessed the participation of sixty disabled players from six districts, who gathered today to showcase their skills and passion for football. Distinguished guests, including Dr. Shashi Panja, Minister of Women and Child Development, Government of West Bengal, Shyam Thapa, renowned Indian football player, actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty, and Subrata Bhattacharya, veteran Indian footballer with years of experience in Mohanbagan Club, graced the prestigious event.
Arumita Mitra, the All India Coordinator with a decade of experience in social work, expressed her admiration for the players, stating, “We need to provide proper coaching to these players who come from extremely rural villages. Their unwavering motivation in the face of disability inspires me. If their disabilities didn’t stop them from playing football, then nothing should hinder the government in providing them with better amenities.”
The West Bengal State Multiple Disability Football Tournament, organized by Sudhamta Foundation India, not only celebrated World Health Day but also shed light on the remarkable abilities of disabled individuals in the field of sports. It emphasized the importance of inclusive initiatives and the need to support and empower persons with disabilities to overcome challenges and pursue their dreams.
