MG Motor India Achieves 50% Renewable Energy Usage at Halol Manufacturing Plant
India: Halol India – MG Motor India, a renowned British automobile brand, has taken a significant step towards sustainable manufacturing by utilizing 50% green energy at its manufacturing facility in Halol. In partnership with CleanMax, a trusted sustainability partner in Asia, the car manufacturer announced the achievement of sourcing half of its required energy from renewable resources.
This move aligns with MG Motor India’s commitment to reducing CO2 emissions by nearly 2 lakh MT over a 15-year period, which is equivalent to planting over 13 lakh trees. The company has already witnessed an impressive 36% decrease in CO2 emissions, with levels dropping from 0.59 MT in 2022 to 0.38 MT in the first quarter of 2023. This reduction has resulted in a significant decrease of 2251 MT in MG Motor India’s carbon footprint during the same period. Projections indicate that this positive trend will continue, with an estimated carbon footprint reduction of 11889 MT by the end of this year. These numbers exemplify the brand’s unwavering dedication to sustainability and its goal of achieving net zero emissions across its operations and supply chain.
MG Motor India has positioned itself as a trailblazer in the automotive industry by adopting green manufacturing practices. The company has secured a green energy capacity of 4.5 MW and will continue to draw power from CleanMax’s hybrid park in Rajkot for the next 15 years.
