Project Udaan’s Impact in Sonagachi: A Journey of Empowerment and Hope
Sonagachi, Kolkata : Project Udaan, a transformative initiative, made headlines as it hosted a significant event in Sonagachi, Kolkata. Led by Revered Swami Shraddhananda Ji and Sri Vikas Pasari, the event aimed to empower young girls who have faced hardships in the sex trade.
Started in 2012, Project Udaan’s Udaan Tutorial School has been dedicated to supporting girls aged 6-18 years, offering them education, health awareness, and a path to reintegrate into society. Under the guidance of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and the Art of Living organization, Udaan Kanya Gurukul was established in Pailan in June 2022, providing a safe haven for the children of sex workers.
The recent Rudra Puja conducted by Revered Swami Shraddhananda Ji invoked blessings for the well-being of the girls, followed by an inspiring Satsang led by Sri Vikas Pasari. The event also included a heartwarming food distribution drive, reinforcing Project Udaan’s message of hope and inclusivity.
Project Udaan’s dedication to breaking the chains of exploitation and marginalization continues to uplift and empower these resilient young girls, with the support of the community playing a crucial role in making a lasting difference in their lives.
