CSIR-IMMT’s ‘One Week, One Lab’ Showcases Innovation and Research Across Varied Fields
Bhubaneswar : The CSIR-Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, hosted an inspiring ‘One Week One Lab’ (OWOL) program from 11th to 16th September 2023. Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT, inaugurated this initiative with the goal of raising awareness about technologies in Minerals, Materials, and Environmental Sustainability.
Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, kicked off the campaign on April 17, 2023. This nationwide campaign, involving all 37 CSIR Labs, aims to showcase their work to various stakeholders.
CSIR-IMMT has been actively promoting scientific curiosity among students through programs like ‘JIGYASA.’ Furthermore, they encourage start-ups, industry connections, and entrepreneurship in the fields of Mineral and Materials processing.
The OWOL program delved into various themes, including minerals, coal, critical minerals, rare earth elements, and the blue economy. It brought together experts, industry leaders, and academia to discuss vital topics concerning India’s industrial growth and sustainability.
The event also featured poster displays, live technology demonstrations, and discussions about the environment, waste management, and pipeline transport.
Day 4 focused on the Blue Economy, highlighting CSIR-IMMT’s efforts in deep-sea mineral exploration and processing. Representatives from key sectors participated in this conclave, which aimed to harness oceanic resources sustainably.
Day 5 showcased CSIR-IMMT’s research on nanomaterials, advanced functional materials, coatings, sensors, and more, with a focus on green technologies.
Finally, Day 6 honored CSIR-IMMT’s research scholars through a conclave, facilitating interaction and discussions about future research prospects.
This program underscores CSIR-IMMT’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and scientific progress, making it a beacon of scientific excellence in India.
