Ebenyo and Kebede Set New World Bests in Tata Steel Kolkata 25K 2023

Kenya’s Daniel Simiu Ebenyo and Ethiopian Sutume Asefa Kebede shatter event records, claim “World Bests” in the Tata Steel Kolkata 25K, marking history in the road race circuit.
Kolkata : In a spectacular showcase of endurance and speed, Ebenyo and Kebede blazed through the challenging course, clinching remarkable timings of 1:11:13 and 1:18:47, respectively. Their exceptional performance not only smashed previous event records but also set new benchmarks for a stand-alone 25K race.

While Ebenyo dominated the men’s category, Kebede triumphed in the women’s race, outpacing favorites like Yalemzerf Yehualaw. Their victories earned them $7500 each, alongside a bonus in the $100,000 prize money race.

The event witnessed Indian talents Sawan Barwal and Reshma Kevate securing glory in their categories, showcasing exemplary runs to claim victory.
A staggering 17,557 participants graced Kolkata’s landscape, making it a colossal success as runners reveled in the spirit of one of India’s premier running spectacles.
