Mines Safety Award 2024: A Landmark Event in Mining Excellence
Kolkata: The national Mines Safety Award (MSA) 2024 took place today, celebrating excellence in mine safety across India. Hosted by Coal India Limited at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, the event was organized by the All India Mines Safety Association (AIMSA) under the guidance of Shri Prabhat Kumar, Director General of Mines Safety (DGMS).
The awards, designed to recognize outstanding safety practices in coal, metal, and oil and gas sectors, were awarded based on uniform criteria set by the AIMSA. The event commenced at 9 am and saw participation from various mining industry stakeholders.
The organizing committee was led by CMD BCCL, Shri Samiran Dutta, and CMD MCL, Shri U.A. Kaole, with Dr. Anjani Kumar and Mr. S.S. Prasad in key roles. Support came from major industry players including ONGC, OIL, NTPC, SAIL, and Tata Steel, among others.
Shri Prabhat Kumar lauded the event, stating, “The Mines Safety Award 2024 highlights the mining sector’s dedication to safety and innovation, setting a benchmark for others.”
The event also featured an exhibition of innovative safety technologies and provided sponsorship opportunities for industry companies. A total of 45 awards were presented across categories, including recognition for the Women Rescue Team from the All India Mines Rescue Competition, promoting gender empowerment in the sector.
The MSA 2024 continues to champion safety and excellence in India’s mining industry.
