Jyotirmoy Public School Expands to North Bengal: A New Campus in Oodlabari
Kolkata: In step with its mission of reaching meaningful and affordable English-medium education to the remote parts of West Bengal, Jyotirmoy Public School is set to expand with a new campus, in Oodlabari, Dooars. The move to set up the school’s second campus is focused on providing accessible and progressive education to children belonging to disadvantaged homes in the tea gardens of North Bengal.
A unit of the Jyotirmoy Education and Welfare Foundation (JEWF), the CBSE-affiliated Jyotirmoy Public School aims to provide affordable, quality education to the region as it continues with its mission to deliver all-round holistic development to students.
Spread over 2.2 acres and nestling in the middle of the lush-green Oodlabari forests, the new campus will initially offer classes from nursery to grade 8, and gradually adjoin a secondary school focusing on classes from grade 9 to grade 12. This initiative is aligned with Dr. Ganguli’s vision of developing a more inclusive educational ecosystem in rural and semi-rural regions. The school will also offer co-curricular activities and workshops aimed at nurturing leadership and life skills, creating well-rounded individuals grounded in compassion, discipline and social responsibilities.
Dr. Partha Sarathi Ganguli, President of the Managing Committee, Jyotirmoy Public School and Founder Trustee & President, JEWF, said that the school’s reliance on handpicked teachers from the plantation community will foster trustworthiness and deeper connections with the students. Due to the expansion of Jyotirmoy’s knowledge campus at Oodlabari, education will be made accessible and it will also ensure equal education opportunities for all. This approach, he further said, would also contribute to the socio-economic development of the area by providing employment opportunities.
“At Jyotirmoy Education and Welfare Foundation, we believe that education is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Our expansion into Oodlabari is a testament to our commitment to providing accessible and affordable education for every child. Together, we will nurture future leaders and empower communities through knowledge,” he added.
Since its establishment in 2004, Jyotirmoy Public School has had a remarkable growth with over 3,000 students at present, thus becoming a benchmark for excellence in the education sector, particularly in the Sonarpur region of Greater Kolkata. Jyotirmoy is acclaimed for its demonstrated commitment to spurring intellectual and personal growth of its students.
